I had someone come into the Juneau Artists Gallery where I have some of my work. They purchased this little Halibut mini (on the left) and wanted to know if I would paint them a larger one just like it. Of course I did. This was painted from a reference photo I took after one of our fishing trips.
And just for fun, here is a pic of probably my largest Halibut catch!
These are all favorite local scenes. The first one is a fishing spot where we go to fish for trout. This was a beautiful sunny day, but of course they are not all like that, especially here in Juneau. We have to fish in the rain a lot!
It just never gets old to see a batch of these together. There is just something so cool about small things. They fascinate me!
I am back at painting a new batch of miniatures for this season at the Juneau Artists Gallery. I will probably be doing several posts with them coming up. I did not feel that I would be putting time into doing the small ones this year, but once I did one, I was very motivated to continue. I have done about 20 new ones this past couple weeks, and really enjoying them!
The sheer joy that these bring to their owners is something to behold. I just love watching people light up when they see them! Each one (except for the collie) is 2×2 inches. The collie is 2.5×3.5 inch.
Each of these little sweethearts measures 2×2 inches. I especially enjoy painting them on the black background. They just have more pizazz some how. Most of these were done as little Christmas ornaments but I guarantee that the owners don’t put them away after the holidays.
I’ve been painting a whole bunch of new minis for the Juneau Artists Gallery this year. They have been very popular. These are all local Juneau, AK scenes
These are a couple of miniatures that I painted for my kids-to be used as Christmas ornaments. The truck was my Dad’s who passed away several years ago. I did that one for my son to remember him by.
The church was just a picture that I loved, and I did that one for my daughter. I don’t think you can see it in this photo, but I used a gold pen to add a few fancy accents in a couple spots when this was dry. It was a great touch. My kids loved them. I really love to be able to make personalized gifts, it’s the best!

So recently I had the privilege to join the local Artist Gallery here in Juneau,AK. And I have lots of these little minis. So I’ve decided I’d better keep on painting them. There is no shortage of great, inspirational scenery here to paint. I almost never go out without my camera to keep lots of great photos on hand to choose from for painting. So the next several posts will be of more minis of local Juneau scenes.
