Plein Air Painting at Auke Lake in Juneau, AK

This is a 10×8 inch oil done en plein air (live on location). This one was a tricky one to try to simplify. I guess that was my goal here, to capture the scene in a simplified way. I loved how the branches hung over the water, and the way the moss climbed up the tree trunks, as well as the contrast of green with the maroon color of the bark on the spruce trees. I did have to do some final work on this in the studio after I got it home, but I had enough of it done go on. This is so typical of the trees around here. I love them!
